About the event

Want to feel more confident in the language you use to lead yoga classes?

Or maybe you are a practitioner who wants to understand better what the modern studies have revealed about the effects of yoga?

Whether you're an instructor or curious practitioner, the "Winter Yoga Study Group" is an 8 week program that will give participants an opportunity to understand the most recent research as published by sources affiliated with the National Institute of Health, and discuss how it can shape our teachings and practice!

We, in the yoga industry, may repeat what we learn as a means of entering the field (and that is okay to an extent), but then it is our duty to evaluate our teachings and practice as the information we have on the effects of yoga continues to evolve.

The good news is, that within the past several decades, there has been a substantial amount of professional interest and research conducted on the impact of practicing yoga.

As a result, we can speak in a more educated way about the benefits or contraindications.  We can research and learn for ourselves how yoga impacts us as a society and as individuals.  Together, through the study group, we will dive into the most current and relevant yoga literature reviews and studies published through the National Institute of Health.

By taking the Pearl Yoga & Fitness' "Winter Yoga Study Group", led by studio owner, 500RYT yoga instructor, and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider, Janet Gallo Markowski, Instructors and practitioners both can enjoy speaking confidently about the benefits or contraindications of yoga and rely upon more credible and scientific research.

Over an 8-week period, participants will be provided the latest reading materials, and given the opportunity to critically think and discuss the applications of same every Saturday in a 90 minute virtual and in-person study group.

Expect to feel more versed in the most current topics and findings about the practice of yoga and its effects on:

--->Chronic Pain

--->Mental Health

--->Children

--->and More.

Additionally, we will learn how we can share the enthusiasm for our practice and its potential benefits in a way that is ethical and accurate.
